Beyonce’s foray in the elusive world of fragrance started back in February 2010 with the release of Heat, an intense floral fruity fragrance advertised under the tagline “Catch the Fever.”
As the name suggests, Heat is a fragrance that projects a feeling of warmth and passion. The blend between floral, fruity and oriental accords is seamless and provocative: Heat creates an aura of mystery that deepens the attraction. It draws attention without being a loud, overpowering scent; it simply affirms a woman’s sensual side and advertises her self-confidence to the world around her.
Heat was developed by two talented perfumers, Claude Dir and Olivier Gillotin, who are well-known for creating many exquisite scents for the house of Givaudan. The fragrance is meant to capture Beyonce’s fiery personality (more specifically that of her alter ego, Sasha Fierce) and the intense vibe of her energetic stage persona.
The fragrance opens with sweet accords of red vanilla-orchid, magnolia and peach, followed by a seductive heart consisting of honeysuckle, almond and creme de musk accords; and gently fades away into a smooth, creamy dry down featuring sequoia wood, tonka bean and amber.
Heat by Beyonce comes in an elegant bottle inspired by the singer’s interest in antique items. The bottle features a gradient effect of yellow and red, Beyonce’s favorite colors, which adequately evoke the impression of fire burning inside the bottle. The outer packaging combines red and black and features the fragrance logo in golden letters.
Heat is available for purchase as an EDP (Eau De Parfum) in the form of an individual bottle in several sizes that suit all needs (15ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml), but also in gift sets, where it is accompanied by matching body care products. The perfume is also available in a more understated formulation presented in the form of an Sparkling Body Mist.
Because Heat is a dark, mysterious scent, it is most suitable for being worn as a complement to evening wear. Its impetuous, feverish accords are also a great way to keep yourself keep warm during the long months of the cold season. Heat can be worn by women of all ages who wish to showcase their personality and project an aura of sensuality.
While Heat isn’t groundbreaking or innovative in any way, it is an alluring, well-blended perfume that delivers what it promises at an affordable price and stays true to its name by successfully capturing a sense of excitement, fervor and lust for life.
